New Music: Hayden Joseph “See Me”

Out country music artist Hayden Joseph recently released his new single, “See Me,” an anthem for those who refuse to be defined by appearances or stereotypes.

“Not even the best photograph in the world can capture everything it takes to ‘see’ us for all we truly are,” says Joseph in a press statement.

“This release is timed to coincide with Pride — serving as an subtle, yet undeniable ode to a community that has fought to be ‘seen’ as individuals throughout history,” he adds. “As a country artist whose appearance defies many of the genre’s stereotypes, I’ve grown frustrated hearing criticisms about how I ‘didn’t fit the country music mold.’”

“The truth is, the vast majority of my upbringing involved country music, yet a few visible cues (i.e., my style and dating life) seem to have held my career back. ‘See Me’ aims to package these concerns into 3.5 minutes and make a bold statement: my story is unique and important to this community, and it is MY prerogative to ensure it is accurately told.”

The pop-country track (co-written with out pro-baseball player Bryan Ruby) combines a bright, upbeat melody steeped in confidence with storytelling lyricism. With Joseph’s effortless vocals in the mix, “See Me” is a real winner.

I’m a brother, a best man, I’m a college football fan
I’m an early Sunday morning hike and a last call at 2am
I’m a sinner to the Saints, 7 colors when it rains
I’m freckled face and dark brown eyes
But no picture you can take captures all you’d need to see
To ‘see’ me

“See Me” is available now on all major music platforms. You can follow the talented Mr. Joseph on Instagram here.
