New Music: Andrew Mitch Is Your ‘Back Home Boy’

Out country music artist Andrew Mitch drops his new single, “back home boy,” just in time for Valentine’s Day.

The guitar-driven single sits right in the sweet spot of country/pop with lyrics that reveal the singer – rather than be a Friday night player – has other things in mind.

So what you say we try and take this slow
Not let a good thing go
No, this ain’t usually how a Friday night goes
But you should know that’s how we do it back home, boy
And I wanna take you back home, boy

“I really wanted to write a song about meeting someone at a bar and wanting to bring them back home but not ‘back to your place,’” says Mitch in a press statement.”There are so many songs about one night stands. But for so much of the gay community, that’s not real life.”

“So many of us just want to settle down, get married, and have a family,” he adds. “I wrote this so that other gay men could have that real life, ‘let’s get to know each other’ song.”

As a member of the LGBTQ community, Andrew’s authentic, straight-from-the-heart lyrics quickly gained attention on social media. In September 2023, he released his first single “all in my head,” a heartfelt anthem that struck a chord with fans across the world.

The song’s vivid hometown storytelling hook, “I know that it’s all in my head/ Cuz they’ll just wish you were a girl instead,” earned him a peak spot at #94 on the US iTunes country charts, hundreds of thousands of streams, and widespread praise for its authenticity and raw emotion.

Chosen to headline the very first South Arkansas Pride festival in Magnolia, AR, Andrew has also shared the stage with artists like Ty Herndon for the annual Concert for Love and Acceptance.

Make sure you take a listen to “back home boy” and you can find more of his countrified authenticity on all major music platforms including Spotify and Apple Music.
